Wonderfalls: Spielfilm?

Nur noch wenige Tage bis das „Wonderfalls“ DVD Set in den USA erhältlich ist (1.2.2005) und allmählich kommt die PR für das Set ins Rollen. Co-Produzent Tim Minear sprach mit SCI FI Wire über das DVD Set und hofft auf einen ähnlichen Effekt wie bei „Firefly“. Das DVD-Set zur Serie hatte sich so gut verkauft, dass Universal Pictures einen Spielfilm („Serenity“) finanzierte.

„Maybe you’ll see Wonderfalls: The Movie in a theater near you,“ Minear said. „I know it’s something [series co-creator] Bryan Fuller’s thought about.“

Das ist natürlich ein sehr dünner Strohhalm — aber ist doch mal nett zu lesen, dass es immer noch einen ganz schwachen Hauch Hoffnung gibt. Wobei ein Spielfilm wohl weniger eine Fortsetzung der Serie wäre, als eine Neuerzählung.

Die „Wonderfalls“-Pilotepisode wurde im Dezember übrigens für einen „Writers Guild of America“ Award nominert — andere Nominierten in der Kategorie „Best Episodic Comedy“ sind „Sex and the City“, „Arrested Development“ und „Malcolm in the Middle“. Die Bekanntgabe der Gewinner ist am 19. Februar. Und falls jemand am nächsten Wochenende in New York ist — dort findet im Museum of Radio and TV ein „Wonderfalls-Marathon“ statt, bei dem alle Episoden der Serie gezeigt werden.

Synopsis:
Jaye is an underachieving twenty-something souvenir shop worker whose life is forever changed after she has what her family calls „an episode.“ That’s when inanimate objects — toys, cartoon images, anything in the form of an animal — begin talking to her, providing her with cryptic messages that invariably lead her into the lives of others in need.
